In Greek mythology, the Makhai (Greek:Μάχαι) were the daemons (spirits) of battle and combat, and were sons or daughters of Eris. The daemons Homados (Battle-Noise), Alala (War-Cry), Proioxis (Onrush), Palioxis (Backrush) and Kydoimos (Confusion) were probably numbered among the Makhai. They were accompanied by such vicious spirits as Ares, the Hysminai, the Keres, Polemos, Enyo, and Eris.
